| Steps to becoming certified and acquiring rank in SunDragon Nunchaku |
1. Join SunDragon Martial Arts Association. The cost is $35.00 per adult, and $25.00
for ages 17 and under. This is a lifetime membership! You may join via our website or
by email at mollie@sundragonmartialarts.com. Just fill out the application and mail.

2. Order the first video of the series. You will then receive a test sheet in the mail along
with your video. When you have mastered everything on your first test sheet, tape
yourself performing the test and mail or email it to us! Once your test has been graded,
you will receive a confirmation either by phone or email. Each testing fee is $25.00 until
you reach pre-black belt. You will receive a certificate and belt for each rank you
achieve. If you send your testing by mail and wish to have it back, there will be a
minimal charge for shipping.
3. To continue achieving rank, you will need to purchase video 2.You will then repeat
all procedures for the first series of testings you did. With each belt level, you will
receive a detailed testing sheet of what is expected of you. You will work closely with
Sensei Boyce, and will be guided through each level.
4. Another way to become a certified yellow belt is to sponsor an all day seminar at
your school. At the end of the seminar you will have learned all of the yellow belt
requirements and will be presented with a certificate and belt.
5. Your rank and accomplishments may be registered with the United States Martial
Arts Association. The USMAA recognizes Sunchaku as well as Funchaku as a
legitimate art. You may join the USMAA by notifying SunDragon of your wish to do so
and the appropriate forms will be sent to you. The cost of joining the USMAA as a
lifetime member and have your rank recognized is $90.00.
6. Once you reach your testing for black belt, Sensei Boyce will test you in person.
Transportation expenses will be the responsibility of the student. You may either
choose to visit our school in DE or have Sensei Boyce visit your school.
